Insanity!

Last year I got involved with one of the workout boot camps here in town but ended up having to stop going around October. Then, I started running training for a half marathon - but my ankle would not hold up to that much running, so now I have started the Insanity workouts with Shaun T. and holy cow they are so hard. I know that I am not that out of shape but these are killing me - even the people on the videos are dying, so you know it is hard! But I am committed to getting in better shape. I have got two family weddings this year, Eli's is August 8th, and Lindsay's is September 6th, and we are putting on a dinner at The Broadway for the Tulsa Wedding Association somewhere in between, so if all of that is not incentive enough then I don't know what is!!!

Michael is doing the Insanity workouts with me and I am SO glad that he is, otherwise I don't know if I could keep going on them - they are so difficult. I thought I was going to throw up after the second workout and I could barely walk!!! There is a lot of jumping and squats and football drills and basketball drills - which no wonder all of those athletes are in such good shape if this is the kind of stuff that they have to do.

So part of this blog is to keep me accountable for my workouts. Today will be the last workout in the first week of Insanity. I am watching what I am eating, getting enough sleep and drinking A LOT of water, and honestly I am already seeing a difference. We had to do a "Fit Test" on the first day of the workout regimine and we take it every two weeks so we will see what a difference two weeks can make. For my first Fit Test I had the following results for each exercise in one minute:

Switch Jacks - 99
Power Jacks - 42
Power Knees - 85
Power Jumps - 29
Globe Jumps - 10 (ha ha these were really hard)
Suicide Jumps - 11
Push Up Jacks - 16
Low Plank Oblique - 45

So we will see what happens next Monday at the next Fit Test!

  1. What exactly are these exercises? I 'googled' switch jacks and all I found was 'Building a Power Jack Switch For Your Sailplane'. I'm guessing you weren't building a sailplane!
